Current was founded by Stuart Sopp in 2015. In 2017 the company launched its first product, a debit card for teenagers that can be controlled by their parents. Two years later Current expanded its offerings to include personal bank accounts, direct deposit, and fee-free overdraft, among other services. In 2022, the company partnered with Zero Hash to launch a new service that allows user to trade cryptocurrency without fees.
